RULES FOR YOURSELF

  1. learn to ask questions
  2. keep your rules and secrets under your hat
  3. keep your success under your hat
  4. mind your own work and business
  5. stay busy
  6. keep your mouth shut
  7. accept what is done is done, look ahead
  8. know what counts and what doesnot
  9. be flexible in your thinking and approach
  10. only dead fish swim with the stream
  11. be the last to raise your voice- stop arguing and control anger
  12. be your own adviser, teacher, trainer, guide, director, way-shower, mentor
  13. if you regret something, do it- I wish I had done that, and I will
  14. aim to be the very best at everything you do- not second best
  15. get on with life- its whooshing past- have fun, stay active, do things you wants, strive for your goals, be aggressive and assertive, work hard, play hard, do things that you like and enjoy, stay happy, feel good, think good
  16. dress like today is important
  17. have a sense of humour
  18. get used to stepping outside your comfort zone
  19. have dignity
  20. maintain good manners in all things
  21. prune your stuff frequently
  22. remember to touch base and keep in touch
  23. draw the lines around yourself
  24. its ok to worry or know how not to- learn to relax, manage stress, take actions, solve problems, handle conflicts
  25. stay young
  26. have something in your life that takes you out of yourself
  27. if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all
RULES FOR RELATIONSHIPS

  1. accept the differences, take what you have in common
  2. allow your partner the space to be themselves
  3. be the first to say sorry
  4. know when to listen and when to act
  5. keep talking
  6. respect privacy
  7. check you both have the same shared goals
  8. treat your partner better than your best friend
RULES FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS

  1. never be too busy for loved ones
  2. give your kids a break
  3. never lend money unless you are prepared to write it off
  4. there are no bad children
  5. be up around people you love
  6. your children need to fall out with you to leave home
  7. your role as a child
  8. your role as a parent
RULES FOR SOCIETY

  1. we are all closer than you think
  2. it doesnot hurt to forgive
  3. it doesnot matter to be helpful
  4. be generous with your time and information
  5. keep the moral high ground
  6. look at the long term ramifications of what you do for a living

  1. not everything can be green
  2. put something back
  3. find a new rule everyday- or occasionally at least
